BTCFi (Bitcoin Finance) refers to a set of infrastructure and application systems that enable on-chain financial activities around Bitcoin assets. The goal is to allow Bitcoin to engage in a broader range of on-chain use cases — including lending, trading, yield management, and asset issuance — while keeping BTC as the core asset.

BTR is a functional asset within the Bitlayer ecosystem, primarily used to incentivize ecosystem growth and governance participation. By coordinating the relationships among developers, users, and ecosystem participants, it ensures the continued operation and long-term development of the Bitlayer network.

Bitlayer (BTR) is a Bitcoin Layer 2 infrastructure purpose-built for the Bitcoin ecosystem. Designed to inherit Bitcoin's security model, it extends Bitcoin's programmability and application space through Rollup architecture, smart contract capabilities, and higher transaction throughput.

BSquared Network (B2) is a ZK Rollup scaling solution built on Bitcoin. It integrates smart contracts, DeFi, AI agents, and on-chain applications into the Bitcoin ecosystem through zero-knowledge proofs, a modular architecture, and a data availability layer. B² Rollup is a ZK Rollup execution layer built on the Bitcoin ecosystem by BSquared Network. It executes transactions off-chain, generates zero-knowledge proofs, and submits verification results to the Bitcoin network, enabling higher transaction throughput and smart contract support. The core process includes transaction submission, Sequencer ordering, zkEVM execution, Prover proof generation, data availability storage, and Bitcoin final settlement.

B² Hub is a Layer1.5 infrastructure layer built by BSquared Network, responsible for Data Availability, ecosystem coordination, and state verification support. As a key component connecting B² Rollup to the Bitcoin settlement layer, B² Hub stores transaction data, manages network signals, and provides a runtime foundation for modular applications.

BSquared Network and Stacks are both scaling solutions for the Bitcoin ecosystem, but they use fundamentally different technical approaches. BSquared Network is built on a ZK Rollup architecture, scaling via zero-knowledge proofs and final settlement on Bitcoin. Stacks, by contrast, operates an independent blockchain that connects to Bitcoin through the Proof of Transfer (PoX) mechanism. In terms of security model, BSquared follows the Rollup path—moving execution off-chain while relying on Bitcoin for final verification—whereas Stacks has its own consensus mechanism and block production process. Together, the three form key infrastructure that helps Lorenzo connect Bitcoin’s security layer, liquidity layer, and yield layer.

Lorenzo Protocol enables BTC to earn staking yield while retaining on-chain liquidity by integrating Babylon’s native Bitcoin staking network, liquid staking assets (LSTs), and yield tokenization. After users deposit BTC, the protocol connects the assets to the underlying staking system and issues corresponding liquid staking assets, allowing users to continue participating in DeFi activities such as lending, liquidity mining, and yield management.

Lorenzo Protocol (BANK) is a liquidity finance infrastructure built for the Bitcoin ecosystem. By combining Bitcoin native staking, liquid staking assets (LSTs), and yield tokenization, it turns BTC from a passively held asset into an on-chain asset that can generate yield and participate in DeFi applications. The core difference between Babylon and EigenLayer lies in their security sources: Babylon uses Bitcoin Staking to extend the security of Bitcoin to the multichain ecosystem, while EigenLayer uses ETH Restaking to reuse the security of staked Ethereum assets. Both are shared security infrastructure projects, but they differ significantly in their target users, economic models, validation mechanisms, and ecosystem positioning.
